Five things we LOVE and HATE about the Yamaha Wolverine X2 1000!

Yamaha’s budget rec-ute just got better.

The Yamaha Wolverine X2 has stood in the shadow of the RMAX 1000 since 2020, when the RMAX was introduced. To combat the near-uselessness of the X2 850, the Yamaha engineers gave it a refresh with new styling, better suspension, and the 999cc engine ripped straight from the RMAX. Now with more power and better handling, the X2 is shining as a genuinely good rig.

We spent a day at Brushy Mountain Park in Hickory, NC, to test the X2 1000 in its natural habitat. After a day of loose mud, tight downhill hairpins, and blasting through trees on the East Coast, we came up with five things we love and five things that we hate about the small-but-mighty rec-ute side-by-side.
