Polaris shoved a 100 hp, 1,000cc parallel twin in its aging Trail S, and the result is a firecracker. We’ve put plenty of miles under the top-tier Ultimate version, stretching its legs in the woods of New Hampshire and, more recently, on the hard-packed clay of Durhamtown Off Road Resort in Georgia. The machine has proved to be right at home on fast, flowing tracks, while technical climbs and rutted routes give it some pause. Still, the machine is compact, light, and packs a serious punch.
