Polaris has announced that certain 2022 RZR Pro R Premium and Ultimate models should be sidelined immediately due to incorrectly routed battery cables that can cause a short, the brand reported this week. Polaris says 1,285 vehicles are affected in total globally, and so far no injuries or fires have occurred due to this issue. Polaris is working on a fix for the issue, and has asked owners of the to stop using their machines until a repair is available.

Polaris’ statement says, “Some Model Year 2022 RZR Pro R 4 Premium and Ultimate vehicles may have an incorrectly routed battery cable, which may contact the prop shaft during vehicle operation. Prolonged contact of the battery cable with the prop shaft may result in an electrical short, posing a fire hazard and risk of serious injury.”

Polaris is “currently evaluating a comprehensive action plan to correct this concern at no cost to consumers and will contact affected consumers once determined.” Polaris has begun notifying dealers and registered owners directly about the issue, and asked customers not to attempt repairs themselves. The Consumer Product Safety Commission has been made aware of the situation as well.
