Segway and Gboost Technology Collaborate on Belts and Tools

Segway turns to longtime industry player for replacement parts.

Segway has turned to a US supplier for spare belts for the upcoming Villain and Fugelman UTVs.Segway

Last year, Segway began its rollout of two new side-by-sides, the racy Villain and workhorse Fugleman. Realizing that owners were going to need to replace parts eventually, Segway turned to an old industry friend, Minnesota-based Gboost Technology. The two have partnered before, close enough for Gboost to work with Segway engineers, reps, and service teams. The latest collaboration has resulted in a range of drive belts, clutch kits, and tools for the Villain and Fugleman.

For the moment, all we know is that the parts exist. Segway’s US powersports site remains a work in progress, so the Accessories and Apparel link that we expected to take us to a parts page in fact goes nowhere. The Gboost Technology Facebook page advises, “If you are looking for a Performance replacement belt, High Quality Tools (made in USA), or a Clutch Calibration Kit, please contact Segway Powersports US or Gboost Technology for more information.”

Gboost, in case you didn’t know, is run by the husband-and-wife team of Glenn and Diane Erlandson. Glenn calls himself “the king of clutching” and the world’s only “clutchologist.” It’s probably good there’s just one man holding that much power over a gearbox. He claims more than 45 years of experience focusing on clutching products and a few hard parts for ATVs, SxS, snowmobiles, and golf carts. Gboost makes multiple products for multiple brands in every category, nine brands in UTVs alone.

The About Our Belts page tells us all the belts make no compromises. “When we design belts, cost is the last thing we discuss. We are more concerned about using the highest quality compounds and latest technology/engineering possible. Price is secondary.”

So when those Segway clutch belts and tools finally show, expect them to be good, but not exactly a bargain.
