The 2021 Kawasaki Teryx KRX 1000 eS.Kawasaki

If we had to list one feature where Kawasaki’s Teryx KRX 1000 outdoes the competition, it’s suspension. The KRX already sits at 68 inches wide and delivers a massive 18.6 inches of suspension travel up front and more than 21 inches at the rear. It’s also built with some of the best suspension geometry in the business, providing excellent tracking and cornering. What is left to improve? Enter the Kawasaki Teryx KRX 1000 eS.

The 2021 Teryx KRX 1000 eS uses Fox 2.5 Live Valve suspension.Kawasaki

Electronic suspension is the big news in today's pure sport side-by-sides, and Kawasaki has come up with its own version for the Teryx KRX 1000eS called Kawasaki Electronic Control Suspension (KECS). KECS takes information from a Bosch Electronic Control System, the fuel-injection ECU, and a steering angle sensor. A semi-active damping control ECU then adjusts to the terrain in real time to provide the ideal suspension damping setting. The entire process factors in speed, driver input, vehicle axis, and terrain. It sounds like a long process, but it all happens instantaneously and repeatedly as the information is fed to Fox 2.5 Live Valve Internal Bypass Shocks.

Soft mode delivers plush damping control when tackling the most technical terrain.Kawasaki

It is all electronic, but the driver does get some say in how the system performs. Dashboard switches allow the driver to select between three suspension performance modes. Soft mode delivers plush damping control over the most technical terrain, such as rock crawling. Normal mode covers the widest range of trail situations, providing better straightforward tracking and resistance to suspension bottoming. Finally, Firm mode is designed for high-speed, aggressive driving, and is more forgiving when those square edges and rain ruts sneak up.

The new 7-inch color display is Bluetooth ready.Kawasaki

A new, 7-inch, LCD thin-film-transfer (TFT) color display sits just above the steering wheel for optimum visibility. The monitor features white backlighting with three selectable brightness levels and provides critical information regarding electronic suspension performance. The display is also linkable to smartphones via Bluetooth as phone and message notifications can be viewed on the screen. The monitor also supports accessory audio and vehicle-mounted cameras. Other monitor functions include a bar-style tachometer, digital speedometer, fuel gauge, gear indicator, power mode, driving mode (2WD/4WD/4WD+Diff-lock), clock, odometer, dual tripmeters, hourmeter, water temperature, battery power, CVT belt temperature, and the usual array of warning lamps.

A sport bumper, sport roof, and exclusive eS model graphics complete the package.Kawasaki

Outside, the 2021 Teryx KRX 1000 eS uses a steel tube sport bumper, a Kawasaki KQR roof, and a very slick color and graphics package. The Kawasaki Teryx KRX eS is a premium machine that also comes with a premium price tag. The additional accessories add an additional $3,900 to the Teryx KRX 1000 base price. The 2021 KRX 1000 eS has a $24,399 MSRP.
