‘MX vs ATV Legends’ Off-Road Racing Game Adds UTVs to Gameplay

Side-by-sides join ATVs and dirt bikes in the arcade-style video game.

Video games are nothing compared to a real day on the trail, but we can’t help but admit our love for a properly good game. Longtime racing series MX vs ATV is capitalizing on the explosion in popularity of UTVs by adding them to its latest installment, MX vs ATV Legends.

The newest version of the game offers various gameplay modes. You can roam open world environments or play in career mode in which you climb the ranks of off-road racing. There is a two-player split-screen mode, and there’s a 16-player online mode for those looking for more of a party. There is also a new trails mode, which adds an ever-changing course as racers battle it out. Dynamic weather brings rain and snow to the game, beefing up the degree to which the game reflects the real world.

We know what you’re thinking: The UTVs shown here aren’t real machines that have real-life counterparts like those in Forza Horizon 5. As much as we long for the ability to race a Polaris RZR or Can-Am Maverick X3 in the newest MX vs ATV game, we can’t complain; any time spent driving a side-by-side is a good time, whether that’s a real machine or not. For what it’s worth, the vehicles in this game look like a mashup of an RZR, Maverick, and Yamaha YXZ1000R.

MX vs ATV Legends launches on May 24, 2022, for the XBox Series X and S consoles as well as the PlayStation PS4. It can be found and downloaded via Steam.
