Ken Block has been hammering side-by-sides for years, building and thrashing high-power machines in some of the country’s most beautiful places. The rally driver/YouTube phenom has made it his business to provide the world with horsepower-riddled entertainment, from his catalog of gymkhana videos to the Hoonigan repertoire of vehicular mayhem. Our kind of people. He recently went to Kanab, Utah, to explore some of the state’s lesser-known UTV playgrounds in his custom Can-Am Maverick X3 MAX X DS Turbo RR.

As with everything the man touches, nothing about this particular machine is factory. From the custom wheels wrapped in Toyo DOT tires to the power windshield, iPad mount, and sound system, the Maverick turbo is draped in well-chosen UTV accessories. There’s even a cooler stacked with, you guessed it, Monster energy drinks.

Block and Zac Martens leave from downtown Kanab, where UTVs are street legal, and head up to Peek-a-Boo canyon, a gorgeous slot canyon carved into the red sandstone. From there, to two points south toward what Block calls his favorite UTV road in Utah: Road 20. The route slaloms through winding, banked sand for miles before tumbling into creek crossing. Perfect for the machine Block and his team built. Check out the video below.
