In November, Polaris launched the Polaris GENERAL. The 2016 Polaris General is a cross between the Ranger working vehicle and the RZR sport machine, which is pure play. Utilizing the 100hp Pro-Star 999cc fuel injected engine and transmission from the family of both lines the General makes great power for working hard but when you stretch its legs the General is also a fantastic trail machine. The suspension travel is 12.25 up front and over 13 in the rear giving the General plenty of rough trail confidence. Shock duties are left to the very popular FOX Podium 2.0 QS3 shocks. This set up proved to be very good in the fast paced rough trails we had encountered. A simple three-position shock adjuster will take the guesswork out of finding your preference for ride quality.
As announced at launch, a third 2016 Polaris GENERAL model would be available in March, the base Indy Red, which is now available in dealerships. The Indy Red model shares many of the same premium play and work features as the other two models, including: class-leading power, torque, suspension travel, ground clearance, electronic power steering (EPS) and comfort for all-day riding. Also similar to the Velocity Blue and Orange Burst vehicles, the model still features premium half doors, storage console with 12V charger and an all-new instrumentation that tilts with the steering wheel. It retails for $15,999 US and $19,999 CAN.
