Honda Recalls Pioneer 700 and 1000 Models for Steering Issue

The recall impacts only EPS-equipped machines.

2016 Honda Pioneer FamilyHonda

Heads up to all the owners of the Honda Pioneer 700 and 1000 with electric power steering. Honda has issued a recall relating to a potential issue with your steering rack. According to the recall notice, there is a potential defect in a lower steering joint that can cause your Pioneer to lose steering control. Obviously, not being able to steer your side-by-side can be a little dangerous.

The models in questions include Pioneer 700 units built from 2017 to 2020, and Pioneer 1000 models from 2016 to 2020. This issue only affects the EPS-equipped rigs, so if you skipped the electric power steering option, you are fine.

If you own a Pioneer from the years listed above, you need to give your local Honda Powersports dealer a call. If you are unsure where your local dealer is, just head to powersports.honda.com and use the "Find a dealer" page. You can also call the Honda Powersports Customer Support line at (866) 784-1870.

Once you find the dealer, you just need to schedule an inspection. Your dealer will look over your steering suspension to see if your particular Pioneer is indeed afflicted with the problem. If they find any issue, you get some new steering parts, courtesy of Honda.
