The YouTube channel 4WD 24/7 notoriously sticks to Lexus and Toyota for their off-road rigs. There have been a few exceptions for Jeeps, Samurais, and other iconic vehicles, but it’s obvious that the crew has a favorite child. They like old-school wheeling, which is why they stay away from side-by-sides. But in the channel’s latest video, the crew are caught driving a Can-Am Defender.
While the 4WD 24/7 boys were still using the Defender in the traditional sense, which is as a support rig and supply hauler, that didn’t stop them from putting the mighty Can-Am in some sticky situations. Fishing in remote parts of Cape York, Australia, means that you have to pay extra attention to the rising tides or you may find yourself without a way to get back to base camp. The boys quickly found themselves in this situation after letting some time slip away at a gorgeous fishing spot.
The river crossing that the mighty Defender navigated that morning had more than doubled in size, and with crocodiles lurking around every corner of Cape York, crossing deep water is even more risky. But the crew did what they do best and persisted. They found the shallowest point of the river and made their way across. With water rushing into the doorless cab of the Defender, the side-by-side slowly approached the other side. Even though the Can-Am made it, the experience was a good example of just how quickly you can find yourself stranded when dealing with rising tides.
With all of the dramatic wheeling out of the way, the boys kept fishing and having a blast at Cape York. Check out the link below for the full video.
