Ranger Kinetic Earns Popular Science Best of What’s New Award

Our favorite electric side-by-side takes home some hardware.

The Polaris Ranger XP Kinetic won a 2023 Best of What’s New award from Popular Science.Polaris

The 2024 Polaris Ranger XP Kinetic was recognized last week with a 2023 Popular Science Best of What’s New award. The all-electric Ranger scooped the award in the automotive category. The Best of What’s New awards are a long-running Popular Science feature that recognize innovative new products. The awards look at the ambition of the project, the quality of the finished product, and the significance of the innovation.

The Ranger XP Kinetic is one of our favorite rigs of the last couple of years. With a proven EV powertrain from Zero Motorcycles, the Kinetic is fast, super responsive, silent, and way more fun than a utility rig has any right to be. We spent some time in one at Polaris’ production facility this year, and our biggest complaint about the rig was that we don’t have one.

We stand by our effusive praise, and the Popular Science accolade is another tick in the Kinetic’s column. It’s been a tough couple of months for EVs, but the tech is here, and it’s moving forward quickly. The EV side-by-side market is only going to grow, and Polaris is the first legacy manufacturer out of the gate with an affordable, widely available, and actually useful unit.
