Ram is finally building the Power Wagon of our dreams, or at least the next best thing. The 2023 Ram Rebel 2500 takes the off-road mentality of the Rebel 1500 and applies it to the 2500 chassis, and it’s available with the incredible 6.7-liter Cummins diesel engine. The Power Wagon is still available, but only with the 6.4-liter Hemi V8, making the Rebel 2500 our new favorite Ram product.

Although Ram claims the Rebel 2500 has a “unique design,” to our eye it looks very Power Wagon. That’s not a bad thing, especially since it’s available with the Cummins, which makes 370 horsepower and 850 pound-feet of torque. If you don’t want the diesel, the truck comes standard with the 6.4-liter Hemi that makes 410 hp and 429 lb-ft of torque. Optioning the diesel gets buyers a payload capacity of 3,140 pounds and a towing capacity of 16,870 pounds—massive jumps over the Power Wagon’s numbers.

Key to the Rebel 2500 package are an assortment of off-road additions. It gets “unique suspension,” a limited-slip and locking rear differential, 33-inch Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac tires, and fuel-tank and transfer-case skid plates. A WARN Zeon-12 winch is available, though sadly only for trucks with the gas engine. Ram has also added cargo tie-downs, a spray-in bed liner, LED bed lighting, and a bed step to the list of available options.

The new Rebel 2500 lives between the Laramie and Power Wagon in the Ram lineup, with prices starting at $67,045 plus $1,895 destination. The 2023 Ram 2500 Heavy Duty Rebel model will go on sale in the fourth quarter of 2022.
