The tragic July 4 floods in Texas brought sorrow and devastation on a scale not seen before, but it also brought out a very familiar Texan quality. Help and resources from far and wide are pouring in from fellow Texans and beyond.

It would be hard to think of a better use case for side-by-sides than helping search for victims and clean up and assess flood damage. To that end, Polaris dealers Family Powersports Austin and Hoffpauir Outdoors of Goldthwaite donated four Ranger Crew XP 1000 NorthStar Edition Premium utes upfitted with advanced rescue packages. They get sideview mirrors, rescue skids, and full-size front hood storage racks to help transport equipment, deliver supplies, and assist clean-up tasks.

Said Rangers will be used by Texas Search and Rescue (TEXSAR), a premier disaster response organization. Additionally, several more Polaris Rangers courtesy of Grooms Polaris in Rocksprings, Texas, will go to A Doggie 4 You to support search-and-rescue and cadaver dogs and their handlers to more easily navigate the devastated terrain. Two weeks after the flash flooding in Kerrville on the Guadalupe River, upwards of 100 people remained missing, though recent updates from authorities have accounted for all but three victims.

To state the obvious, the sheer amount of debris combined with damage to infrastructure and navigable roads means side-by-sides are ideal for transporting people and resources. Polaris also donated $50,000 to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund to help accelerate critical response initiatives.
