Polaris Racer Brock Heger Gets the Star Treatment

Possible bumper sticker? My other rig is a tractor.

Polaris RZR Factory Team Racing Brock Heger’s other gig? Driving a decidedly different rig. Screen grab from the CBS Morning News segment, “Pushing the Limits.”CBS

In the old-timey days, Avis car rentals had ads that basically said, “We’re No. 2. So we try harder.” And no one tries harder than RZR Factory Racing driver Brock Heger. He hasn’t been anything besides No. 1 all year. He won his category in Dakar in Saudi Arabia, the Mint 400, and the San Felipe 250. The UTV racing class is working hard to assert itself in the pack of traditional motorcycle and off-road classes. In addition to tearing across open desert at triple-digit speeds and winning, Heger still clocks hours in another gig: driving tractors on his family farm in El Centro, California.

This blue-collar wrinkle to Heger’s story caught the attention of CBS’ transportation correspondent Kris Van Cleave in a CBS Morning News segment called “Pushing the Limits.” Cleave talked at length with Heger about balancing both responsibilities. Heger joked about the family tractor only getting about 20 mph at W.O.T., while he still asks his pit crew to let his RZR Pro R Factory racer get lit up to 125 mph.

It’s a fun piece and a big stage for Heger and the RZR Factory Racing Team. And it’s a PR win for UTV racing and the category in general. Check the link below for a fun look at the man behind the visor (and most checkered flags of late).
