Polaris has issued a recall of approximately 80,000 Sportsman 450 and Sportsman 570 ATVs for a wiring harness that can rub on front brake lines or part of the frame, which can cause a fire, front brake failure, or both. According to Motor Sports NewsWire, Polaris has received five reports of fire, two of which included brake failure. The company has received another three reports of damaged wires.

The recall apparently includes an additional 13,900 ATVs sold in Canada. Polaris says owners of 2021 to 2023 Sportsman 450 and Sportsman 570s should immediately stop using their rigs and contact the nearest dealer for the next steps. The remedy will be a free wiring harness fix from Polaris.

Polaris is notifying owners of affected vehicles, but you can check whether your ATV is involved at polaris.com/en-us/off-road-recalls/.
