Polaris Factory Racing had an excellent outing at the Baja 500 last weekend, with Cayden MacCachren taking the UTV Overall and UTV Pro Open class victory in his Polaris RZR Pro R Factory. The win was MacCachren’s third SCORE victory in a row. Polaris-supported driver Brandon Sims came second in a modified Polaris RZR Pro R, and MacCachren’s Polaris Factory Racing teammate Craig Scanlon came fourth.

MacCachren started the race first thanks to his victory in the San Felipe 250, and spent the first half of the 483-mile race battling with Sims, Scanlon, and two other Polaris-supported drivers. MacCachren had taken a six-minute lead by mile 258, which held through the rest of the race.

The Baja 500 was rough and dusty this year, which made tough going for the whole pack, and meant the race was a serious test of machinery. The effort started in early 2023, and quickly notched a raft of SCORE victories. The team redesigned the Pro R Factory for this desert racing season, and the victories have continued to come thick and fast. Keep an eye out for Polaris Factory Racing at the Vegas to Reno race from August 14–17.
