Desert racing is one of those things you simply have to see to believe. Where else can you find cross-country competition, huge slides, and the wide-open spaces of the North American West? The new Unlimited Off-Road Racing Series, stylized UNLTD, aims to bring that appeal to the masses. Its recently announced 2024 schedule consists of three events: The Parker 400, held in Parker, Arizona, in January; the Mint 400, in Las Vegas in March; and October’s California 300, in Barstow, California. Each event will offer multiple classes for racing side-by-sides, sanctioning competition for everything from youth-oriented small-bore machinery to professionally campaigned turbocharged vehicles.

Launched in 2023, the Unlimited series is the brainchild of brothers Matt and Josh Martelli. Best known for directing the first three videos in the late Ken Block’s Gymkhana YouTube series, the Martellis have spent more than a decade promoting off-road races like the Mint. According to the Unlimited website, their series exists “to promote the sport of desert off-road racing [and] the off-road industry, and to expand the reach of off-road companies beyond the industry and into the homes of every off-road race fan, globally.”

At press time, the 2024 Unlimited rule book lists more than 90 distinct vehicle classes, including more than two dozen for UTVs or UTV-derived machinery.
